Neil S. Kaye, MD, DFAPA is a licensed helicopter pilot and owner.  He has been recognized by Angel Flight , as a pilot of the year for his services as a volunteer pilot, transporting medically ill patients for needed healthcare.  He has also been recognized for his service by Governor Tom Kaine of Virginia, who awarded him the 2006 Award for Volunteerism and Community Service

Dr. Kaye’s experience as a pilot provides him with unique insights as an expert witness in airplane and helicopter crash cases.  He has worked with attorneys on psychic stress claims and the anxiety and fear experienced by pilots and air passengers in near death and/or impending death flight conditions.  He has lectured about the brain and mind during stress and how stress affects aeronautical decision-making, including the sensory disturbances experienced by pilots, such as spatial disorientation.
